Magic Performed by the Devil

28 Feb, 2023 - By Ikenga Jonjude Okere

The Fashionable and cubic nature of the dice gives no assurance of consistency in the repeat of a number on multiple throws. The creative ingenuity, expertise and sound mindedness of the individual in this part of the world are not an assurance of consistency of goodwill within the corridors of political powers. This is because individuals can only do great things within their circles from the society they live in, but in the case where their society is not hinged on doing great things the sustenance of the individual’s contribution on a long term and the adoption of such gestures by others suffers a tragic set back.

The numbers engraved on the dice are magical; landing with poise on the side of influence by the joint manipulation of the forces of time, speed, density of air, angle of throw, gravitational force and space limiting or aiding the journey of the dice. Number one on the dice could be likened to a King; standing out elegant in royalty, share space with no other but still is scarcely sorted for in the crescendo of events that has to do with strength in numbers. Number six on the dice could be said to relate to a team; everyone is nicely fitted in; united in clusters like the masses. It is often well sorted after owing to the advantage it brings by its capacity of strength in numbers and its carriage to change the game of power play through its wealth of numbers.

In our part of the world, the political magic performed by the devil in the heart of our rare kind of democracy has come with multiple influences to condition the mindset of the masses. Hunger, lack of basic amenities, deficiency of adequate healthcare, propaganda to cover the inefficiency of government and blackmailing mercenary to keep the opposition mute has been the constant instruments of subduing the masses and making them land on unreasonable; irrational grounds. Some are left compromised defending very un-defendable performance of the government while many are abandoned to the shackles of frustration which compels them to sell their right to good governance for as cheap as N200 and as high as N5,000 as total payment; full and final for four years and in return the ineptitude of a merchant government flourishes for the four years sold in full to him/her/them.

The government could be likened to the number one on the dice; isolated by its royal carriage, limited in coverage when it comes to the power play of numbers while the masses in their form and style fits well in the characteristics of the number six on the dice; the game changer and power broker. The magic performed by the devil in our political space can be demystified by the joint forces of a people resolved to experience a performing, objective and developmental driven government.
